Saint Mary Magdalen Parish/Saint John Mission parishioners choose to:
•Pray every day
It is through personal prayer and prayer with the community that we develop our personal relationship with Jesus Christ as our Savior.
•Actively participate in Mass on Sundays and Holy Days
The seasons of the year and the days rhythm prepare our world for new life. That we might become more fully alive as a community, we are called to weekly worship of our God whose life-giving presence and love embraces us both in our joys and in our sorrows.
•Receive and celebrate the Sacraments
The seven sacraments of the Catholic Church: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Holy Matrimony, Holy Orders, Penance and the Sacrament of the Sick are encounters with the Risen Christ in which we experience Gods goodness, order, and life.
•Imitate and live the virtues of Jesus Christ
Christ calls each person to holiness. The word virtue means strength to do what is right. St. Paul encourages the first Christians to live a virtuous life of love, joy, peace, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control (Galatians 5: 16-26).
•Share the best of their time, talents, and treasure each day
God gives us all and then calls us to share. From the very first story of the Bible, God invites us to be stewards. In the Bible the tithing of ones first fruits is a basic theme. Our gifts of time, talent, and treasure to the Church and to the larger community are to be intentional, planned, sacrificial, and proportionate to what we have been blessed with.
•Help and support our neighbors near and far
In reaching out to help our neighbor, we follow the commandment of Jesus Christ, "Love one another as I have loved you." (John 13:34)
